Anthony Merola

Anthony is a professional rider, trainer, and handler with over 20 years of experience in the equine industry. He honed his skills while training and competing with Sheila Rodgers of Yaphank, NY, who instilled in him a strong equitation foundation and excellent horsemanship. 

During his Junior Amateur career, Anthony was guided by Paula Petrone of Huntington, NY, who taught him the commitment required to excel in the industry and opened many doors for him. He now passes on these valuable lessons to his students, both young and old.

Throughout his career, Anthony has ridden and trained with top trainers such as Michael Page, Nikko Ritter, and the Babingtons. His extensive background has led to a successful show career, competing in the Jumper, Hunter, and Equitation disciplines at prestigious venues like HITS, Upperville, Wellington, and WEC.

Anthony values the power of knowledge in this sport and believes in providing both horse and rider with the tools, time, persistence, focus, and discipline necessary for success. The Gold Leaf Stables team, under Anthony's guidance, are reliable contenders wherever they compete.
